On my one outing - at around 10:30 a.m. - I drove past the highschool, where graduation was to take place. The parking lots were full, cars lined the driveway and some were even parked on Madison Street. And what a perfect day it was! Bright purple and gold balloons marked locations of parties - there was a bunch of them (balloons, that is) on Sawmill Road & Route 20 and, down in Stockwell, purple-covered tables were set out at the Stiles' residence.
On West Bacon Street, the new porch at the Machold residence looks better every time I drive past!
I'd been wanting to take a look inside the Treens' new Home Shoppe, on Buell Avenue, and I found Bob just opening the front door.

The showroom is a spacious 40' x 48' and is painted a lovely shade of goldish-brown - sortof like mocha with caramel! Behind it, a 40' x 60' warehouse and, tucked away, an office, restroom, and a small room with assorted lighting and heating equipment - all the most energy-efficient available! As Bob said, "It's not just the roof that's 'green'!" When will the move take place? "It's coming right along!"

Considering the amount of rain that fell in Waterville last week (Donna Morgan Greene said that they had .6" during one brief storm!) the Sangerfield River - flowing beneath Loomis Road - is very low! Perhaps a Sunday Ride in the Country to the "orange bridge" in Hubbardsville would be a good idea to see how low the water is at that point in the river and, also, to ascertain whether or not the bridge has reopened and is, in fact, still orange!

About that "Fossilized Turtle" rock: Dave Fox was right: it's a concretion called Septeria. I found the following on the internet, on an Ebay page advertising one such rock found in Schoharie County! "Septeria concretions are formed from Limestone. During their development process, they shrank and cracked. The resulting veins were filled in with various mineral deposits over time with calcite, dolomite, and siderite being common. Septeria are mostly of considerable size, ranging from six inches to several feet in diameter. The Septeria concretions found in Schoharie County, NY come from the ancient sea bed dating to the Devonian Age."

School receives award
For its record of leadership, service and activities that serve to improve the school and community, Waterville High School Student Council has been awarded the 2007 Gold Council of Excellence Award by the National Association of Student Councils.
The WCS council is one of only 116 schools nationwide to receive this award and one of only five in New York state.
To meet the requirements of the award, a Student Council must demonstrate that it meets a variety of criteria. In addition to basic requirements such as a written constitution, regular meetings and membership in NASC, schools that qualify for the award demonstrate such things as leadership training for the council members, student recognition programs, school and community service projects, spirit activities, goal setting, financial planning and active participation in their state and national Student Council associations.
Leslie Olivera-Van Wormer, adviser, and Brianna Cowen, vice president and District VIII NYS CLSA student executive board member, will accept the certificate on behalf of the council in Kansas City, Mo., at the national conference later this month.

Kim Kampf telephoned me last evening, just as it was getting dark, to say that there was a covered wagon parked at the Nice 'n Easy in Sangerfield! A sign on the side read "Montana to Boston!"
I'll see if they're still there!
Yes!
The wagon was still at Nice 'n Easy at 6:30, this morning. There are two horses - "Suffolk Punch" - munching hay and two dogs - "Great Pyrenees" - disinterested. "Lee" must still have been asleep. I couldn't see all of the sign on the back of the wagon, but enough so that when I got home I could "google" it and found the website: Leehorselogger.comI may try to catch up to him later on.
