It was a nice day for paddling, yesterday - or fishing - or just sitting at the edge of Chittening Pond enjoying Summertime.

Down in Hubbardsville the new bridge is open but it isn't orange, any more!
The water seemed a little bit low, but there were vehicles with boat racks parked in the newly-enlarged pull-off, so paddling must be fine.

The level of water is always the same once you get past the first curve. There's a sand bar, there, that acts as a dam and holds water into the main channel of the river.

I found Lee the Horse Logger just East of Sangerfield, near Beaver Creek Road, at about 12:30 yesterday afternoon .........

and watched as the team headed toward Bridgewater, thinking about that long, long hill just after Doe Road.

I took a ride to the East and, coming back about an hour later, there he was: at the Bishtons', across from the Legion! It looked as if Rob - who also has horses - had contributed some hay to Lee's venture. Some other people pulled up and got out of their cars. I overheard some conversation about finding the VFW on the East side of West Winfield, but all I could think was that at THIS rate it would take Lee three days to get there!

Another traveler, just passing by ..................... Ron and Val Schenk were sitting out in their back yard one evening about a week ago and had a visit from a Summer Tanager - a rare sight!
