For those who are keeping an eye on "Dean," I pass along this advice from savvy weather-watcher and blog-reader "Mark," in Ft. Meyers, Florida: he gets his information from NOOA and NBC Channel 2, in southwestern Florida.

A short article on the WKTV website and a link to a video wrap up Madison-Bouckville Antiques for another year.

An article in yesterday's O-D, in re: possible improvements to Route 12 between Utica and Binghamton, reminded me that we never did get that turning lane in Sangerfield, did we? Maybe next year.

August 20 is the Feast of St. Bernard, and it was celebrated, here in Waterville, with a picnic that was attended by about two-hundred parishioners.

I got there just as the food (what there was left of it!) was being wrapped up and put away, but there seemed to be quite a few picnickers who were happy to stay and enjoy the company.

I'd driven over through Augusta, stopping to take a picture of the August Presbyterian Church. I don't when the building was constructed, but a parish was formed, there, in 1797.

This one's for JBD: but no sign of grapes, yet!

There are still some hollyhocks here and there. These are next to Skyline Drive.

It's a question for mycologists - not geologists:

What is it?

It's near my yard. I found it several days ago - it was even larger, then, but the same brown that it is now!
