Sunday Morning

It's 54 degrees and cloudy

WKTV's forecast for Father's Day :
  • Partly sunny, warm and humid with afternoon thunderstorms likely. High 83 Low 60
  • Monday: Mostly sunny and hot. High 88 Low 64

It's Father's Day!
Breakfasts out; picnics; barbecues; new golf clubs, perhaps - or the traditional "another new tie!"

One father, we know, is having a grand time down in New Jersey riding the world's tallest roller-coaster! (And taking his two sons with him!)

Whatever it is that YOU do, have a great day!

For whatever the reason, neither the Utica nor Syracuse newspapers nor WKTV has any photographs or information about last evening's Willie Nelson Concert in Deansboro anywhere on their websites. (Perhaps someone who was there will send a picture?)

Signs showing the route to the concert venue were up early yesterday morning.

There was a Garage Sale on Main Street in Deansboro ........

and it looked as if Willie's famous motor home was on site.

By 3:45 in the afternoon, the parkinglot was filling up .....

and there were a few ominous clouds to the North.

Would I have liked to have gone to the concert? Yes! But the heat, humidity and distance from the lot to the viewing area combined to discourage me.

I DID, however, take my car to the Firehouse where Troop 108 was holding a Bottle Drive and what appeared to be a "full service" Car Wash.

The greatest attractions there were the fellows on stilts ......

......who were scrubbing the roofs of even the tallest vehicles!

On Putnam Street, the "purge" continued.

"Boilermaker" flags are appearing throughout the village ......

........ and there are runners everywhere, training for the July 8th event.

In other Sports and Fitness News - Carol Sambora wrote to me to say that:

The Mid-York Weekly for Thursday, June 7 reports on the "prestigious award" that CWEG - Chenango Water Exercise Group - received from the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program of Madison County. Our volunteers were guests at their annual awards dinner and received the 2007 Impact Award for the volunteers' service to the community. As you know, all of the leaders of our classes are volunteers, which is how we are able to offer such a comprehensive program of water exercise for fitness and various problems. It was very impressive to have them recognized by RSVP! Anyone wanting to find out about water exercise at the Colgate pool can call our administrator, April Cady, at 315-228-7621.

The Tulip Tree at the Hoffmans' on the way to Sangerfield is blooming. Slow down and look!

Today's "Ride in the Country" will be to Crow Hill, Northwest of Bouckville, where the scenery is changing!

Have a great day!
