Moving on .....

I cannot, now, begin to express my appreciation and gratitude to all of you for your letters, phone calls, cards, visits, gifts of flowers and food and offers of comfort and help: people who don't live in small towns like Waterville have no idea what they're missing in life! Your friendship, now, is more valuable to me than anything else in the world. Thank you. PsB

It's Garbage Day!

and the weather's headed in that direction, too.

It's 29.5 degrees; the road is wet, but a sand truck just went past the house.

Today: Clouds, some sun and numerous snow showers with light accumulations on grassy surfaces possible. Windy and cold. High in the low to mid 30s.

Tonight: Occasional lake effect snow, mainly north of a Camden to Boonville line. Several inches of accumulation possible. Elsewhere, flurries. Low in the mid 20s.

An article in this morning's O-D in re: a rabid fox should serve as a caution - or warning - to all of us.

That four-letter word is back in the forecast, again! But even if it snows, Springtime really is coming!

I havn't had time to go and take a new picture, but I'm quite sure that this wonderful early delight is in bloom .....

At least this is what it looked like on April 4th four years ago!
It grows in swampy but sunny spots; is three or four feet tall, and smells like lilacs!

I went looking for hepaticas, on Fuess-Cleary Road, but it was so dark and cloudy that they weren't open.

I DID, however, see lots of patches of Wild leeks
which make a wonderful soup!

But I'm looking forward, instead, to
