Sunday

It's 56 degrees with no rain, yet.

If you're driven indoors by a shower, later today, and find yourself retuning to this site, here are a couple of links for you to click on:

the History of "Memorial Day,"
the story of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address
and - if you havn't already read it - the history of our own Civil War Monument.

***********

Yesterday was a thoroughly fine day: not only was it clear, but it was breezy and much less humid than the day before.

I went uptown quite early. Mr. Pesto and "K.C." were chatting with the gentlemen in "News Central" on Main Street, and .............

....... there was great activity at "Macs."

Main Street really looks grand! The new trees have leafed out and there are flags and hanging planters on the telephone poles.

Garden Club "tubs" are bright ........

......and Gortons' Corner, in Sangerfield is all dressed up, too.

At the Clifford J. Fulmer Post 92 of the American Legion, everything was neat as could be and the bulletin board listed the Memorial Day Activities.

The Ladies Auxiliary will serve breakfast to the Legionnaires who will be marching in the parade, but the Chicken Barbecue - which starts at noon - is something we're all looking forward to!

By 4:30, in the afternoon, "Macs" certainly looked different!

The forecast for tomorrow isn't as bad as earlier predictions.

*****

I may not do an early-morning post, but will wait until after the Parade and Exercises at Monument Park.

Allison and her husband, Rick, and their son Iain are here for the weekend getting all sorts of jobs done. Lots of trimming of shrubbery and sawing dead branches and even trees; scrubbing lawn furniture and sorting stuff out in the barn. I get tired just watching them! (But I certainly do enjoy it!)

Today we weed - and weed out!

You have a great day, too!
